Dance Your Bolster Yoga!
HOW DO YOU ROLL A BOLSTER? YOU DANCE IT.
Because we make yoga props partly as a creative pursuit, Inner Space Yoga always has a sweet spot for other creative businesses and non-profits. You can read more about our endless curiosity about the relationship between yoga and creativity here.
This connection is not always intentional – in the, you know, the “influencer, let’s sell some product and still be authentic” kind of way. Sometimes it just happens. And that is what happened when Jill Frere, the Inner Space Yoga Warehouse Wizard, put bolster rolling in a whole new light. She danced it. Inspired by the koan “the great way is not difficult if you just don’t pick and choose”, Jill uses Inner Space fabrics and bolsters (and the ocean and sand) as part of her exploration into self expression through dance. (Psst - that is the inside of the Inner Space warehouse – where the rolling magic happens. The other set in Jill's dance piece is the inside of yoga- ok, watch it to figure out what we mean).
Jill’s dance video is going to roll into a part of the premier "Primitive Light 2020!" airing on Youtube from December 17 -December 20 and produced by the pioneering Circle Modern Dance.
Primitive Light has been a Knoxville Holiday tradition for almost 30 years. This year, Circle Modern Dance is taking Primitive Light online.
You can watch this dance performance anywhere for free when you register at https://www.circlemoderndance.com/upcoming-performances/. Show some love to Circle Modern Dance if you are able and so moved. They started with the simple idea that “everyone is a dancer, and every body has the right to dance” and now, here we are, 30+ years later. So many dancers, choreographers and musicians have collaborated with Circle Modern Dance in those years. Turns out, creativity collaboration is good for a community.
